Top 10 Christmas Movies
With Thanksgiving under our belts (literally), we can finally embrace the festive holiday cheer. I know some of you scrooges out there hear “Jingle Bells” and want to go crawling under a rock but over here at THE MILL we are always in the spirit of celebration and what better way to start the season than by watching a Christmas movie? Below are my top ten personal favs.

DAS RACIST.
Das Racist is a rap duo from Brooklyn (via Wesleyan University, right around the corner) who’ve fiercely dichotomized the music community. You, as a listener, probably have one of two opinions about them:
1) They are brillaint. Their hypnotic style and poignant rhymes border the musically transcendental, all the while quietly hinting at the overwhelming apathy and consumerism that runs in...

Bed-Stuy meets Billysburg
Black Star reunited on Jimmy Fallon and performed History with the help of the Roots and Dirty Projectors, thus making a cool occurrence even more awesomer.
Seeing Dirty Projectors get involved in the hip-hop scene is totally unexpected and pretty exciting - I like this more than Jay-Z’s colab with Empire of the Sun by a lot.
A related note - Beyonce’s little sister, Solange...

Enthusiasm Is Contagious
I don’t know if anyone has heard of this electronic group called Bassnectar, but they are pretty awesome. My brother introduced them to me this weekend after he went to one of their gigs in New York City. If you’re a fan of Steve Aoki or DJ Tiesto, you’ll probably enjoy Bassnectar. Based in San Francisco mainly consisting of Lorin Ashton (plus other collaborators), this music...

Thanksgiving means Chicago Cold, Good Food and...
So after spending my entire Tuesday in airports I finally made it home to find out that two excellent new mixtapes had just been released. Chicago hip hop staple, Lupe Fiasco recently announced that he would be releasing a new mixtape around Thanksgiving. The man is clearly motivated, “I gotta really, really go out there and show that I’m nicer than all of them.”
It is a...

THE MOTH
A friend introduced me to The Moth a few months ago, but at this point I think it’s official. I’m hooked.
The Moth is a non-profit organization in New York City that puts on free storytelling events all over the country. It was founded some years ago by a New Yorker who missed the evenings on his rural Georgia porch when old timers would gather ‘round a lone lantern and,...

Kid Cudi - Came Along
This Kid Cudi track was one of the first real jams of the summer for me but I only found the video this week.
The original (mp3 here) has a much more relaxed beat compared to the video edit, but I like the western style and the kid Kid Cudi is sick.

Last night was intense
thanks to everyone who turned out, we had an absolute rager of an event last night!
Crowdsurfing!
handclapping!
…and lasers!
On a far more low key note, here’s a great reason for why you should all see the Fantastic Mr. Fox!
Director Wes Anderson directed the entire film from his apartment in Paris, communicating with the animators in London via texts and e-mails. For a lot...

Rock it, rocked it well.
You have two options: 30 burgers in the Cravecase. 100 burgers in the Cravecrate. Rock it, rocked it well. Trinity you’re the man. See you next time.

YES GIANTESS!
Last April, an up-and-coming band called Giantess came to Trinity College to play a small show in a frat basement. Now, months later, they’ve changed their name (now they’re Yes Giantess), gone on a European tour, shared the stage with Little Boots, pumped out tons of remixes, and are returning to Camp Trin?
What?
Yes. Last semester at AD, Yes Giantess put on one of the best small...

I don't remember him looking any better.
So I’ll keep this very simple. Who says that when John Mayer makes an album, it has to be some kind of crazy blues breakthrough?
I didn’t like Mayer’s new album, Battle Studies, the first time I heard it. I was hoping for something more like Try!, that he released with the way too-short lived John Mayer Trio… some sort of an evolution of his Hendrix/Coltrane-inspired...

Trailer Trash: Untitled
After seeing 2 Days in Paris, I’m going to rep anything with Adam Goldberg in it.
the movie looks like an enjoyable satire, with a lot of the jokes reminding me of Art School Confidential. If the movie’s focus gives insightful critcism of the contemporary art world instead of blanket jokes about concept art in general, I’ll be sold.

I don't want to do my work, so here is some music
Think About Life- Havin’ My Baby
Check out the whole album, but this is the clear standout
Sleigh Bells- Crown on the Ground
Raunchy, dirty dancefloor fun… one of the bands that “blew up” at CMJ last month
Neon Indian- Psychic Chasms
Neon Indian are awesome. This song is awesome.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros- Home
I have to give credit to taylor and lily...
