Basically, I went to see the silent, black and white film, The Artist. How cinematically heretical! SILENT?!?! BLACK AND WHITE?!?! Let me tell you, this movie was one of the best films I’ve seen in a theatre since The Illusionist (the animated one). It’s a must see and the dog is so good, he could win an academy award.
The Artist takes place between 1927 and 1932 and focuses on the decline of silent film and the rise of the “talkies,” starring Jean Dujardin as the silent film star and Bérénice Bejo as the rising dancer, soon to be actress. Directed by Michel Hazanavicius, this film won Dujardin the Best Actor Award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, was nominated for six Golden Globes and twelve BAFTAs.
Clearly they’re doing something right, so go and see the film and see what all the hype is about.
