Le Loup came out with their sophmore album “Family” about month ago. For those of you who are not familiar, Le Loup’s drummer, Robby Sahm, is my dear friend Becky’s older brother. Their album has been compared to the great indie bands of today like Animal Collective and Fleet Foxes. I saw them in a basement of some shady church in Philadelphia last year and their mix of folk music with electronic beats gave them a completely different feel from their first album, “The Throne of the Third Heaven of the Nations’ Millenium General Assembly”. The indie pop quartet is doing something indie heavy weights have been doing for the last couple years while adding their own twists with an abundance of mandolin, Afro-pop-esque guitar and distorted harmonies.

Because I am in Costa Rica and movies don’t come out here for 3 months after they do in the US the fact that Wes Anderson’s “Fantastic Mr. Fox” comes out today in theaters makes me want to hop on a plane home.
