I don’t remember him looking any better.

So I’ll keep this very simple. Who says that when John Mayer makes an album, it has to be some kind of crazy blues breakthrough?

I didn’t like Mayer’s new album, Battle Studies, the first time I heard it. I was hoping for something more like Try!, that he released with the way too-short lived John Mayer Trio… some sort of an evolution of his Hendrix/Coltrane-inspired pop… but it’s not like that at all (except the one short bluesy track, Crossroads).

Turns out the reason I was originally disappointed is the same reason why I am now completely enamored. This new stuff is so simple, and I know everyone’s been throwing that word around, but it is… it’s basically gorgeous.
