The Vampire Weekend Boys have put out their latest music video, and it is as weird as ever. The band is no stranger to quirky videos, but this one is pretty unprecedented with a broad range of cameos (my personal favorite is RZA). See you all at the open mic!

I realize that Will posted this a whileeee ago, but OMGGG i’m flabbergasted, and recently came upon it myself. Vampire Weekend vs. Miike Snow - The Kids Don’t Stand A Chance. There have been a few remixes of this song by Vampire Weekend, such as Chromeo’s, but this is far, far superior. You can download it here.

Also, I went to a club in the west end of London this weekend called T Bar, and 2020 Soundsystem premiered their new album Falling. Check out the songs Closure and Satellite.

cheers.

So, as previously mentioned on this blog, Vampire Weekend is about to drop their new album on January 10th. And guess where you can find a full sneak peak available for your listening pleasure? Of all places … NPR! Its true. The bastion of buttoned up, tweedy, white (or maybe wheat?) bread liberal discourse is suddenly… dare I say… hip?
You can listen to it here before you buy it in stores.

in spring 2008, i must have had the lyric “and it feels so unnatural/peter gabriel too” in my head for months. now, peter gabriel himself finally comes out with a cover of vampire weekend’s “cape cod kwassa kwassa” in collaboration with hot chip. though the song sounds uncannily like the theme song from disney’s “tarzan,” i dig the idea.

and check out these other recent covers:

the kooks- “kids” by mgmt (another blast from spring 2008)

florence and the machine- “halo” by beyoncé

imogen heap- “thriller” by michael jackson

“Horchata”

Fresh from the boys of Vampire Weekend - check out the first single of their upcoming sophomore album, Contra.

The track has an understated bounce to it with some fun drumming for the chorus. Not as catchy as Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa, but still an enjoyable song.

All in all it makes sitting on the beach of Martha’s Vineyard, listening to African drums and sipping on some delicious horchata seem totally normal…

One part Ra-Ra-Riot + one part Vampire Weekend = funky smooth electro jams that have an odd aftertaste of R. Kelly? It’s delicious…

Expect an EP out this summer!
