Delorean have done some pretty dope remixes in the past- the best being for Lemonade and The Mystery Jets- but their new EP reveals that this foursome from Barcelona really have what it takes. Imagine if Cut Copy, The Tough Alliance, and Air France, had a sexy menage a trois and this is what you get. Delorean underscore everything I love about electronic music in that they use technology to create something so natural sounding, as though these beats just happened to wash up on the shore. Their EP, Ayrton Senna, just dropped today and was added to Pitchfork’s growing list of Best New Music- and after listening to the short but beautiful album, I couldn’t agree more. This track- “Monsoon” is my personal favorite today, but ask me tomorrow and I’m sure the answer will have changed.

“Ready For The Weekend” is the second song to be released from Calvin Harris’ new album- also entitled “Ready For The Weekend.” The song is downright electro fun, which is exactly what we’ve come to expect from the scotsman, especially after the banger that was “I’m Not Alone.” So check out the video and get ready for the new album which drops August 17th!

Going off chase’s post- I also saw Passion Pit this weekend, but on saturday, when Shy Child and Cale Parks opened up. While Shy Child were completely underwhelming, Cale Parks was unreal. The electronic melancholy of his songs translated into a haunting and beautiful perfromance. “Two Haunt Me” and “Every Week Ends” were the highlights of the set. He also did a dope remix of Bear Hands “What a Drag,” that recalls another spaced out Wesleyan band gone big.

The Phenomenal Handclap Band isn’t so much of a band as they are a group. Consisting of a few permanent members and a revolving cast of musicians, PHB construct funktastic, blissed out jams that sound like they were shipped express from the 70’s. They’re new video for “You”ll Dissappear” showcases their stoned out style and was actually filmed at my “place of work” this summer- Santos Party House. The band is having their record release party on June 25th at Santos, so if you’re in the area come stop by and check out these masters of the groove at work!
