Mill guests Darwin Deez have released their music video for the song “Radar Detector” (blogged about here).
The video is fun, showing the band being quirky and endearing… that sounds about par for the course.
OK Go - This Too Shall Pass - Rube Goldberg Machine version

I am not too familiar with Ok Go’s music, but this video needed to be posted. Ok Go made an alternate video for their single “This Too Shall Pass”. The video is based on a Rube Goldberg Machine (a deliberately over engineered machine that performs a very simple task in a very complex fashion, usually including a chain reaction). Everything in this video is one working chain reaction started by a car hitting dominoes in the very beginning. This video is one of the coolest music videos I have ever seen. Enjoy

This is the music video for Efterklang’s “Modern Drift”, the new single off their album Magic Chairs coming out on 2/22 (we in room 222- thats right, yall just got rickrossed). It’s like the most beautifully soundtracked episode of Planet Earth possible (sorry Sigourney). The lyrics are poignant and contrast perfectly with the simple piano backing. This song will definitely be in the mix often as winter turns to spring. Let me know what you think Millionaires.
Enter Ninja, a South African MC who, along with Yo-landi Vi$$er and DJ Hi-Tek, comprise Die Antwoord.
Ninja is one of the more curious guys I’ve seen up-and-coming for a while. His work is obviously in the realm of what most of us would consider hipster, for its absurdity suggests that it should be taken ironically. To Ninja, however, it’s not. He’s serious that he has “you know, some serious gangster skill on the mark”, and these guys embrace what would immediately be looked upon as ridiculous and trumpet it as the best thing since sliced bread; that’s certainly something not to be overlooked.
I’ll admit, there’s nothing groundbreaking about “Enter the Ninja”, but there’s a ton that is just damn interesting. For one thing, the hook is addicting beyond belief (try and not get it stuck in your head - I dare you). Also, you cannot deny that Ninja is just awesome to listen to, and while his accent is sometimes incomprehensible (if he’s speaking English at all), his flow is undeniably unique and he spits with a fervor that echoes the intensity of Eminem and K’naan.
Summary: Die Antwoord is, if nothing else, at least worth a look and, depending on how you feel, maybe a laugh. The video I’ve posted above is the official music video for their track “Enter the Ninja”. Really cool visually and really addicting musically. Be sure to check out the impromptu interview and short-form-video for their track “Zef Side” as well - that thing’s ridiculous.

Cleveland’s Kid Cudi got everyone talking with “Day N Nite”, then won over the entire Mill with “Pursuit of Happiness,” his indieful collaboration with Ratatat and MGMT. The music video for the song has just been released and features champagne, beautiful women, and Drake.
Cudi seems melancholy… probably because he misses the Cleve…
bonus - Steve Aoki has taken this song on with his typical club-banger style, enjoy it here (mp3 courtesy of The Music Ninja)
I got the song, Golden Phone, back in May but just started listening to the full album this week. Micachu & the Shapes are a funky, weird trio that aren’t always this melodic but each track is dynamic and surprising.
Check out the music video, which is basically just 3 friends goofing around in front of the camera.
