A Little Bit of Summer Flava

Raised in New Jersey, Scott Soens has built a rep for himself capturing a different side of the surf world. He was one of the original artists to collaborate with Jack Johnson and Chris Malloy to form the Moonshine Conspiracy - the group that went on to become Brushfire Records and Woodshed Films. Over the last decade, Scott has documented some of the best moments in surfing and skating. His most notable film projects include Thicker Than Water, Shelter, Hallowed Ground, and more….

This show was just the first of many to come… the venue turned out to be pretty amazing and I hope you enjoyed yourself.

HAPPY EARTH DAY! I hope everyone takes Dean Alford’s email to heart and makes sure to keep the quad extra beautiful this year so everyone can have pictures like this. It’s supposed to be in the 80’s this weekend (have you noticed how Trinity is suddenly filled with meteorologists come springtime?) so make sure you come join us on the quad for some tunes and some good times. Just make sure you recycle!

I know there weren’t too many people out on the LSC quad when Matt & Kim were up there, but they certainly provided their audience with a sweet damn set. Matt’s back was injured, but no one could tell, since Kim’s craziness more than made up for it. The energy, the focus, the fun - it was all there.
Here’s a crappy photo of the whole ordeal from my Blackberry. Next time, get out there. Please.

I don’t know about you guys, but i had a good time at K’naan this past weekend. I sang along, raged my face off, and drunkenly took some photos. The energy was high and everyone seemed to be having a good time. His last song didn’t really hook me, but overall i thought the performance was impressive. It’s pretty cool when a group on campus is able to organize an event that clicks… the buzz was more than tangible and everyone found a reason to make it out.
