Enthusiasm Is Contagious

I don’t know if anyone has heard of this electronic group called Bassnectar, but they are pretty awesome. My brother introduced them to me this weekend after he went to one of their gigs in New York City. If you’re a fan of Steve Aoki or DJ Tiesto, you’ll probably enjoy Bassnectar. Based in San Francisco mainly consisting of Lorin Ashton (plus other collaborators), this music is…well, fierce. In other words, it’ll probably get you motivated to do something. Furthermore, there are intense peaks in most of his songs. I personally like doing my calculus homework to it, while my brother likes studying for his CFA test to it.  Anywho, he came out with a new album this year called Cozza Frenzy, and it is delectable. Some of the artists he worked with were Fever Ray (kind of like Bjork) and CatesdpL.

He looks like this:

“Bassnectar is a reflection of that opportunity to give back; the motion of my cells bouncing back at the world.” - Lorin Ashton

It’s a Small World After All

2 videos to start your monday off right.

I’ve been really into Tilt Shift Photography recently, because the effect it produces is so surreal. A quick explanation - Tilt-Shift Photography is a style of photograph where only the center of the image is crisp while the top and bottom are blurred. the result (callled the Scheimpflug principle -thanks wikipedia!) is this weird trick on the eyes where the image looks almost like a designed set of minatures. Here are two very different but excellent examples done with film.
